A New Day Comes

You only get one sunrise and one sunset a day, and you only get so many days on the planet. A good photographer does the math and doesn’t waste either.

I know posting around here has been sporadic at best. I know it probably feels a little like we’ve abandoned ship. But trust me, that’s not the case. Let’s blame a little of this on the movers who packed my camera and all my photography gear before I could rescue it, and a really stressful job that hasn’t allowed me a lot of creative space, and a pretty stressful summer.

Now we’re moving into fall and moving into our new house. We’re unpacking all the boxes {we’re down to single digit counts of boxes in each of the rooms!} and we’re getting pictures hung on the walls and we’ve found most of the spatulas. And we’re actually starting to make some space in all of this for creativity.

I haven’t made nearly enough space for creativity in the past few months. Not enough time to get out and observe and just capture the moments. Not enough time to taste and to sample and think about what flavors to bring together. Not enough time to touch the keys of my piano and think about melody and harmony.

But I’m at the point where I’m not only starting to change that, but finding it absolutely necessary. And I’m in an environment that just screams with inspiration for a creator. Let me show you a little of that, captured on a morning walk out to the gorgeous lake by our house.

I’m just in awe of what I’ve been able to capture around here on something as mundane as a morning walk. It’s starting to spark my need to create again, and inspire me to look for the beauty in the world.

One or more of these shots might make it into prints in the house. And if I ever offer a print shop, there will definitely be a couple of these included.

Here’s hoping you’re finding inspiration as well, and have a great week!
