Maple Cinnamon Latte

In my request to recreate the best fall latte I’ve ever tried {sorry, PSL}, I combined my favorite fall flavors into this delicious drink that’s just sweet enough thanks to pure maple syrup!

Oh, hey, y’all – happy Friday! Are we there yet? Are we any closer to having a decision? Or are you all at the point where I am – where you just want to turn everything off but the music and kick your feet up and enjoy the fall colors and this unusually warm and pleasant weather we’re having in Virginia and sip your favorite fall flavors in a cup rather than listen to any more newscaster opinions?

Great! Let’s sit back and have ourselves some coffee. And while we’re at it, let’s foam up the milk and throw in some ground cinnamon and maple syrup to enjoy the best of fall {sorry, PSL – you’re just not my jam} while it’s all around us!

When my team sat down with the Google Team out at their campus in Mountain View, there was a lot to be impressed with. But my favorite thing was all the little coffee kiosks through the campus where you could just go and walk up and get a coffee. They had a special offering, a maple cinnamon latte, and I tried that out – and it was seriously the best coffee drink ever. I asked the barista how she made it, wrote down the directions, shoved them in my pocket, and promptly lost them.

But lately I’ve been craving another one of these delicious goodies, so I reverse engineered my own!

You might think you need a lot of fancy equipment to make this, but you don’t actually need an espresso machine wand or steaming pitcher to steam milk. Pour the milk in a small jar, like a salsa jar, and shake it vigorously for about 45 seconds, or until milk bubbles appear and the top looks nice and frothy. Stop shaking the milk when it looks like it has doubled in volume. Take off the jar cover, cover with a paper towel, place it in the microwave, and zap it for about 45 seconds. Voila!

And here’s how you make the rest:

So, confession – I like to use my pumpkin spice mix in this one as well, but let’s not call it a pumpkin spice latte, okay? Let’s let the maple shine.

There! Now, if you need me, I will be out on my back deck with my laptop and headphones, winding down the rest of this workday with a maple cinnamon latte and falling leaves to keep me company.

Happy Friday!
