  • This is how I take meetings when I have more of a listening and less of a speaking role. And you can, too. The tech exists. People just think it’s easier for me because I work from anywhere, but the truth is if we redefine how we expect people to participate and loosen the constraints on “the office,” more folks can work this way.

So get out there. Get fresh air. Walk. Ride your bike. Take a walking meeting in person. Go ride and dial in. Life is too damn short for conference rooms.
  • Cool weather and brisk mornings are great for reflection - both for me and for the lake, it seems!

I had to take a breather from the office before getting after it this morning. One of the things I haven’t done well lately is get away from the office. I either live in it, or I carry it with me in my pocket. The downside of portable digital work.

I know I need to set some boundaries when it comes to work. There’s always one more thing, one more ask, one more “can we grab thirty minutes on your calendar” and saying no feels like either a failure or that I’m not working hard enough.

Because obviously I have time to walk to the lake, to be in the daylight, to take a breather.

It’s a constant fight, not with people who want time but with myself, to remember boundaries and reflection time might not be work, but it’s essential to work. Otherwise all you get is quantity of time spent working, not quality.
  • I’m loving the reds in the flight at my @slatewineacademy @wsetglobal course today! And learning more about what makes a good white wine and what makes one’s I actually like!🍷
  • Working on a new recipe for pulled chicken barbecue enchiladas - swipe for my helpers behind the scenes 🤣
  • Took a happy four-legged floof for a check-in with the lake. ❤️
  • A brief hello to DC for a couple meetings and thinking sessions, and then to farewell my amazing team from Army Talent Management! And probably one of my most unique team farewells because I got farewelled right afterward - since we all moved to HRC together! So, farewell team - see ya Monday! 😄🍻☘️
